Self- determination is a beautiful ideal which I strive for but I've been searching for a way to strive with clarity and consistency.
How much can we really fulfill if we wear ourselves down with our self-imposed ideals, standards and goals?
The ideal could be that we are ENERGIZED by our self-determination and The Desire Map is an amazing way to do just that.
I came across The Desire Map after first finding the "Fire Starter Sessions" by the same author Danielle LaPorte. The more I learn about her approach I realize this was a result of some really excellent target marketing. Actually let me say that in a way which really reflects what it was, it was a magnetic package of exactly what I needed.
The reason why her writing and approach resonated so much with me and many others is because she knows and has the courage to not only talk from personal experiences (hers and other magnets attracted to her) about why burnout, lack of fulfillment and overall freedom-stealing happens with enough consideration and care to foster a way for YOU to design your own soul centered way to navigate this crazy world. Do it Yourselfers Need Support Too.
Let me be specific, I was drawn to this work most of all because of my family, the communication interactions I see in Barbados and the overall lack of clarity which I have seen in the people who I have organized and worked with.
Shed in a positive light, lack of clarity these days is probably one of our main unifying human characteristics. We seek clarity to "Satisfy Our Souls".
Lack of clarity is a product of our thirst as a species to make life more complex than it needs to be. That thirst is reflected by the ever expanding and massively overrated validity of information on the internet.
*****Ironic Side note: Yes I said it!The internet is overrated even though I'm using it now lol. This contradiction reflects my path to seeking clarity, just know that my life goal is no longer to make a living through work which depends on the internet, however I've got to step through it in order to step out of it :).
That thirst for complexity is reflected by our lack of acceptance that there are a few simple solutions or ways of being which can solve a whole heap of problems at one time. If you realize this, that is super-wonderful!
I'm doing my shoulder shrug happy dance with you. Let's work together.
That thirst for complexity is reflected by our refusal to learn and mimic from our natural world and the relationships of other species. But who knows now where our natural world ends and our synthetic manipulated world begins, it's all meshed together unfortunately. Luckily nature is so intelligent and savy that she finds ways to still teach us lessons if we pay attention.
So overall what I'm saying is that I deeply dig the reasons why we all have a lack of clarity and may continue to receive signals and stimulii which confuse us. There is always a silver lining though, that is the beauty of simplicity or as Clean Bandit says ...it's sacred simplicity.
There are methods, approaches, tools, systems, institutions, software, products, authors and doers who are designing with the aim to complicate life for you so you can continue to buy into their stuff and depend on them. Any method, system, institution, product, author etc that doesn't continue to work for YOU unless you keep buying, selling or believing without reflecting HONESTLY on your reality... is leading to your enslavement. If you have read this far, you may know this already but I am just reminding you ;).
I've found a way finally to navigate my tendency to complicate life and all of those complications created to enslave me. I've found a way to navigate with simplicity from an author who has checked all of my boxes:-
Box 1
She consistently acknowledges where her revelations come from. It's not about just what she has to say, it's actually not about that at all. It's about her being honest about her experiences and sharing revelations which have come from conversations from the Dalai Lama, to her co-workers to many other people in her sphere. She cites everything and that matters to me because people who write/work as though they are an all-seeing know all authority and then reveal something which I understand already or have read already WITHOUT acknolwedging that there is the possibility that their audience has heard this before, loose credibility to me. I read what they say, it resonates for a second but then I say eureka sarcastically and loose interest because they haven't either honoured their source or respected that the reader may have heard this somewhere before in different words, in another context or from some ancient wisdom.
That is the strength of this Desire Map approach, it's all about that common experience of using what you've heard and felt before in other words and combining it with deciding how you really want to design your life. We all do it, whether deliberately or subliminally. What is really stopping us from being more deliberate about the design of our life? By designing our life I mean:- What we spend our time on; Who we spend our time with; What we spend our time filling our brain and heart space with; What rocks our boat the right way and What we do to satisfy our soul.
She is trying to simplify her life and therefore has presented a way for me to co-design a way to simplify mine. For that I am grateful and ready to share this with as many people as possible.
