Sometimes the priority of sustaining and actually preserving ourselves requires us to change unsustainable life design practices or prioritize sustainable practices which we are already involved in.
In this workshop, with the guidance of the facilitator the approach of blended learning provides an opportunity for students to review information online but work on exercises face-to face with a course partner in person in their locale OR through video calls.
Intimate concern, activism and careers which focus in on the health of our environment, our bodies and educating others about both the perils and solutions could be fulfilling but sometimes weary work.
Do you ever feel as though you are willing to delay tending to your own needs for your chosen "cause"?
Do you ever feel as though the volume of work there is to be done on issues related to ecology and society make your personal rest and regeneration a distant impractical dream?
I have been inspired by a quote by environmental justice activist Michele Robinson - " You are of no damn earthly good to anybody or yourself if you don't take care of yourself".
Whether you are a sustainability activist, an educator or anyone who is devoted to a cause, you are in the right place. I see The Desire Map as a form of regeneration and focusing for doing that work and it definitely is more fun than writing a grant proposal, organization by-laws, a job cover letter or an action plan for your work and yet it can help us do all of that with an energetic focus.

You can complete this course anywhere in the world. The course content requires 8 -10 hours total of your time for the entire 6 week period. Along with my guidance through the course, we have two learning assistants male/female who will work to resolve any of your challenges or integrate your feedback into our course progression.
During a 6 week period we are asking that you:
-
Login to the class Wiki at least once per week to review our learning materials and post one comment in our weekly discussion.
-
Complete at least three hands-on/face to face assignments
-
Cooperate with a course partner with whom you are comfortable with completing face-to-face/hands on assignments.
If possible, your course partner should be someone who you've known before deciding to take the course.
If you do not have in-person access to your course partner, assignments can be completed via Skype/Google Hangouts. For those of you who are not able to identify a partner, just let me know and I'll find one for you OR I'll serve as your partner throughout the course :)
